Plot: Even if he poses as a progressive, socially responsible leader outside, Girish Choudhury is a shining example of how one may be a tyrant who will go to any length for money. Anyone can be sacrificed for his advantage. Subhendu, the elder son of Girish Babu, and Sudhir, the younger son, are engaged in contract work and rice trade, respectively. While the obedient son Subhendu is aware of all of his father's transgressions and chooses to remain silent, the rebellious son Sudhir, a recent college graduate, speaks up.
One of the so-called reformists who chose to end the stigma in society is Girish Babu. However, in practice, he demands 10,000 rupees in cash as dowry when his son Subhendu marries. Braja Babu, the brother of soon-to-be daughter-in-law of Girish Babu, expresses inability to meet the unexpected demand. The marriage takes place after Sudhir steps in and Girish Babu withdraws his demand to save face. But Mamata, the newlywed daughter-in-law, must endure Girish babu's fury. Mamata was tricked into being separated from her husband Subhendu starting on the fourth day. Despite all of the mistreatment and brutality, Mamata gives selflessly of herself in the service of her in-laws. Finally, Mamata and Subhendu are reunited after Sudheer reveals his father's dishonest tactics.
